MONTEBELLO RD.

Happy Monday!!!  I hope you all had a great weekend.

Two weekends ago, Marcel and I attempted to climb the Montebello Road (Cupertino, CA).  Unfortunately, I didn't feel well due to lack of sleep and improper dinner and breakfast.  We ended up stopping the bike ride 2.5 miles into it.

Since the weather was nice this past weekend, we decided to try again.  This time with Ko Fritz as well.

Montebello ride was about 2,400 ft elevation gain, 5.5 miles climbing, and 5.5 miles down hill.  On average, people would do it in less than 2 hours.

Marcel and I did it for 2 hours and 7 minutes HAHA. It's all because I was pedaling so slowly and asking Marcel to stop frequently to take pictures.  It was gorgeous up there.  We ran into coyotes, deers, squirrels, and LOTS OF flies.  They're actually on the street with us.  We're so close to the nature.  We enjoyed the company except for the flies.  They were quite annoying because they followed and circled our heads from the beginning till the top.  However, on the way down, we managed to roll fast enough leaving them far behind us.

We also biked pass the wineries and many FOR SALE estates.  Since the elevation was quite high, the oxygen level was pretty thin too -- making it difficult to breath.  I struggled the most in the first 2 miles and took 5 breaks during the uphill.  But Marcel kept cheering me up; and I was determined to finish the ride up so that we both could enjoy the view from above the clouds. Yes, we're biking beyond the clouds.  It's really gorgeous.

So here you go some pictures I would like to share with you.

Halfway to the top; we're already beyond the clouds
Right before the final climb
I still didn't have the courage to put on my biking shoes as yet
At the top before the downhill; admiring the beautiful view God allowed me to enjoy with this healthy body
The view from the top -- all white clouds and series of mountain tops
